AO Aotearoa Skincare: Raw Nurture PM Treatment

Ao Aotearoa Skincare was founded by dermatologist, Harvard-trained pathologist, Dr. Mark Gray. He has spent 20 years listening to his patients whom have struggled with skincare mixed messages: that ‘effective ingredients are harmful and natural ingredients don’t deliver results.’ Dr Gray explores breaking scientific advancements and social trends to find the ideal balance between health and efficacy. The range includes cleansers, day moisturisers and treatments, day serums, night moisturisers and treatments, night serums & retinal, as well as sunscreens. Raw Nurture PM Treatment 30ml $119*

The raw nurture pm treatment is best described as a low moisture evening treatment that helps to hydrate, plump, exfoliate and improves skin tone. It is antioxidant and nutrient-rich, which also helps to repair, restore, condition and softens the appearance of lines around the eyes and forehead.

Its key ingredients are: red algae (helps prevent oxidative damage to skin after exposure to uva rays, it is 6000x stronger than vitamin c), bakuchiol (natural retinol alternative to vitamin a), sodium hyaluronate (activates skin’s natural moisturising factors), totarol (an antioxidant that reduces oxidative stress and free-radical fangs to skin), manuka honey (an anti-microbial compound that nourishes and draws out precious moisture deep into skin), palmitoyl tripeptide-37 (skin healing and renewal), and harakeke seed oil (repair, moisturise and soothe damaged skin).

This treatment comes in an airless tight proof bottle for sanitation and is said to help preserve the potency of the ingredients used. The orange cream is lightweight that absorbs quickly and leaves no residue. No colour transfer on hands or pillow while you sleep. To use: It is recommended you use this on a clean dry surface. All you need is 2 pumps for your face and neck post cleanse and before your serums/oils. I like to use this as a base (like an essence) after I have cleansed, toner and add this in my night time skincare lineup every day. I have consistently been using this in my night time routine for more than 5 weeks now and my skin is loving it. I have used retinol from other brand that can be quite intense, but this does not irritate my combination-dry and sensitive skin type and still my skin is loving the benefits it provides minus the irritation that can be associated to using vitamin A.

In about a month’s use, my skin has felt softer, smoother and if anything my skin doesn’t appear to have textured skin. It’s smooth all over and the lines on my forehead, although not as noticeable before using this product, I have noticed that when I frown or raise my forehead the lines appear but don’t stay that when when my forehead is rested. I can see it helping to smooth it out so that it can appear less noticeable. Overall, I have seen a major improvement in my pores around my cheeks, they are much more minimised even when I only use this product at night. When I use other skincare products in my day time routine, my pores remain to appear minimised which doesn’t usually happen. I also found that I had less breakouts, skin appeared healthier (hydrated and moisturised), and skin tone had slightly improved. Usually I would need to use a variety of products to have these minor skin issues resolved.

This is such a worthwhile investment and one I would happily continue to use in my night time skincare routines. This product is suitable for all skin types including those with sensitive skin as it offers benefits of retinol without the harsh side effects. This product is cold processed and is formulated without parabens, sulfates, mineral oils and is fragrance free. It is non toxic, sustainable, eco-friendly and cruelty free.
