BALMAIN x L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Lipstick Collaboration

I have been seeing the latest lipstick collaboration between Balmain x L’Oréal Paris on my instagram recently. I cannot tell you enough how excited I am to be able to get my hands on some of these shades. I do intend on purchasing a couple more shades as I felt they are worth to collect! “The formula is infused with pure pigments and camelia oil, to give our richest colour and most moisturising matte finish.” Balmain x L’Oréal Paris.

The color riche by Balmain x L’Oréal Paris’ 1st limited edition collection of 12 tailor-made couture lipsticks. These are seen with edgy designs encased in a lightweight lipstick bullet that was designed by Olivier Rousteing.

The colours were designed to embody 3 femininities: Safari, Rock & Couture. There are shades for every woman, no matter her origin or her tribe.

  • SAFARI: Fever (orange) / Glamazone (brown) / Urban Safari (beige) / Balmain Instinct (khaki)
  • ROCK: Power (dark brown) / Legend (grey) / Rebellion (blue) / Freedom (purple)
  • COUTURE: Domination (red) / Liberation (purple) / Confession (coral) / Confidence (rose gold)

The collection contains some wild-out-there colours and of course wearable ones. I picked up a few that peaked my interest at the time, but have plans to purchase a couple more soon.

The swatches below are of 3 shades from the rock and couture tribes, which feature no lip liners, but just a touch of clear lip balm to smooth out my dry lips. Though to avoid the colour from bleeding, one should use a lip liner of your choice to accentuate the shape of your lips, applying it on the edge for a naturally full look.

Overall, I am very happy with the quality of these pigmented shades, especially domination and power. They felt lightweight on the lips and found that each needed no more than one or two applications. Confidence, I felt would work best when a similar shade of lip liner would be used to enhance the rose gold shimmer effect that would look stunning on the lips. The finishes were semi-matte, domination appearing more matte than power (creamy) and confidence (shimmer), as the two pigmented shades did stain the lips, but all felt comfortable and could easily be wiped away with a waterproof makeup remover.

These lipsticks were purchased from Harvey Nichols website that retailed for AUD$22.09 each. At present, they are not yet available in Australia, but I heard through the grapevine–they may be releasing them mid 2018. {Now available at Priceline and Chemist Warehouse).

Are you excited for this lipstick collaboration? What are you thoughts on these shades?
