Blogging Resolutions for 2017

Happy 2017! It’s another year and another set of new goals to hopefully accomplish. This new year is all about appreciating the little things in both blogging and what life gives me, as well as to continue to build new friendships and maintain existing ones.

A quick recap of my year in 2016: it was the beginning of exploring new adventures and in particular with where my blog would take me. Also, where social media like Instagram had given me more opportunities than I could count on both hands.

I am so thankful and grateful to all the lovely people I had met along the way, bloggers, vloggers, brands, PR and Marketing Companies both locally and internationally. From being invited to product launches through to blogger events, it’s been an amazing journey so far and I hope to continue to explore, network and continue to accomplish new challenges in this new year.

Just like 2016, I have compiled a few focuses that I really want to succeed in, things that I realised over the past year, what I actually enjoyed doing, but need to do more of it. Here are my to do list:

Improve My Photography Game

Over the course of the past year, I have signed up to a couple of online photography courses, mainly for instagram and flatlays whilst using the iPhone. This has also become my current choice of technology + camera to use for my blog posts and instagram photos. I am finding that I can play around with angles, filters and lighting on my iPhone, but also edit my photos using photo editing apps. You will see a progression of the way I involve styling props with products I show in my blog posts. This year, I really want to focus on capturing simple, minimalistic layouts, flatlays and incorporate theses into a more natural setting.

Only Post Quality Content

I mentioned this in my 2016 blogging goals and it’s true that quality over quantity is better. I have held back on a number of times in 2016 to not post something just because and focus on producing content that is fresh and exciting. With that in mind, I want to always remind myself that I need to pull back if I have to, so that my writing will improve, my ideas remain fresh and the flow of blogging will fall into place.

Branch Out To Other Social Platforms

Here’s a fun fact: I used to vlog on Youtube about makeup hauls, beauty tags and monthly favourites, etc, before I had a blog site. Would I open a new Youtube account? I’ve thought about it and at this time, it’s not on the cards. The current social platform I have enjoyed using is Instagram. I have a little following–a growing group of like minded people who I appreciate just the same as you guys here on my blog. I am moving away from the loved white themed background to more muted grey tones. This is also something I want to incorporate with my blog site theme. You may already see this transition in place and I want to keep whatever theme I use on Instagram to match over on my blog site. I also want to continue to share beauty imagery, explore other blogger accounts, as well as increase my impressions + engagement.

I’m keeping my goals short and simple, even though these may look like easy tasks, they can also bring challenges that I look forward to tackling one day at a time.
