Byredo Gypsy Water Hand Cream

Byredo Gypsy Water Hand Cream

It is no secret that as a beauty blogger we have a habit of spending $$$ when it comes to sharing the good and bad of beauty. I recently took a peep at my Mecca beauty loop account and I must admit I have spent a lot of $$$. The main influence for such high expenditure, comes from the digital influencers on my instagram feed. I have been obsessed recently with skincare, since that is really all I can buy, and with my stock piling up–this is the time to begin to review them.

In today’s post is about this luxe-have it hand cream. Byredo is a Swedish brand, created by brain child, Ben Gotham. He had met with a perfumer that inspired him to create unique scents using the highest quality of raw ingredients that have become cult fragrances. You may be familiar with their line of candles and perfumes, but now they have hand creams. There are about 8 different scented hand creams to choose from, 6 scents in 30ml tubes and 2 scents in 100ml tubes. The perfume version is out-of-this-world.

This is by far the most expensive hand cream I own and every bit goes a long way. It is packaged in a very simple and classic white aluminium tube with a twist top cap and black print. The formula has a lovely creamy texture that is neither sticky or greasy, as it dries quickly once massaged on the back of the hand and palms of the hand. The aroma of Gypsy Water is described as ‘a glamorization of the Romany lifestyle, based on a fascination with the myth. The scent of fresh soil, deep forests and campfires evokes the dream of a free, colorful lifestyle close to nature.’ Top: Bergamot, Juniper Berries, Lemon, Pepper. Heart: Incense, Orris, Pine Needle. Base: Amber, Sandalwood, Vanilla.

This scent to me screams mature, warm and inviting, something that is fresh, but also a scent that leans toward evening or winter. After many hand washes, I find the scent to slowly fade but still keeps my skin hydrated and soft. Although, I have eczema and I should refrain from using anything that contains fragrance in skincare, I find this to not disturb my skin or flare up my eczema, but anyone with a similar skin condition should do their own research. This is not a necessity, but if you are in the market for luxury fragrant hand creams with unique scents, this has cult status amongst beauty bloggers and you won’t be disappointed.
