ESK, Evidence Skincare–is a brand I have had an opportunity to trial and review some products back in April–6 week PM skincare challenge. I had success using their products previously and now I am excited for this newcomer to become a part of my daily skin routine. What can I expect? I have some “shadow” hyperpigmentation around the side of my face and jawline. While this is not too obvious, as I have used other products in the past that helped to minimise the appearance of hyperpigmentation, I am hoping by using this product it will continue to minimise its appearance.
Enlighten 15g $28.50 / (50g $95 full size)
Enlighten is described as a cream treatment to help minimise discoloured skin due to hyperpigmentation, which is a cause of excess melanin production in various parts of the face, neck, hands and chest. Hyperpigmentation is commonly seen in forms of sun, age or liver spots, and melasma that can develop with people of any age, sex or race. The condition is seen commonly with women usually with lighter skin tones, which attributes to a range of factors such as environmental (unprotected sun exposure) and hormonal (medications and increased oestrogen levels).
The formulation for enlighten is suitable for all skin types including those with sensitive skin and ideal for pregnant / breastfeeding mothers. Key ingredients: 4nB aka 4-n-Butylresorcinol (gentle ingredient that helps to balance serum production, increase collagen synthesis & reduce redness), and Niacinamide (vitamin b3, which helps to regulate skin function, improve skin’s moisture barrier). This is a daily treatment claims to be effective at lightening skin that is non-irritating and safe for long term use. It is an antioxidant-rich cream to help repair damaged skin cells and protect skin from free radicals.
I have started to include this treatment in between my toner and base serums. I use this both day and night for the past week. I have not experienced any side effects, irritation, redness or anything of that nature. I find it to be a gentle formulation that absorbs into my skin readily, and it helps to hydrate and promote a lovely vibrant skin.
The photos above are both taken on the same day with different lighting. My hyperpigmentation is light and not as intense as it used to look. This is what I had experienced while I had my boys. At first I didn’t think there was anything I could use to minimise the appearance and wished I had this product available to me then. This is what is left years after those pregnancies and with continued use, I will update my progress and results on Instagram.
