Dimitri Weber is a French and Belgian, based in Sydney Australia, is the founder of Goldfield & Banks perfume concentrate. The name Banks was to pay homage to Sir Joseph Banks, a botanist and naturalist, and was also referred to as the ‘Father of Australia’. Dimitri worked closely with Francois Merie-Baudoin, the nose behind the Goldfields & Banks fine fragrances. Together, they captured the essence and tribute to the unique, lustrous and the extraordinary beauty of Australia.
“A sophisticated fragrance of rich woods and exotic spices that is at once invigorating and grounding. The cobalt coloured Australian Blue Cypress provides a fragrant woody base, lifted by a fusion of lively lavender and exotic patchouli, clove and star anise.” – Goldfield & Banks Australia.

Each fragrance was inspired by using unexplored extracts of Australian native plants and flowers. Every perfume contains at least one native Australian ingredient, like the Blue Cypress fragrance, it uses the native Australian Blue Cypress, which is grown in the Northern Territory, and other local ingredients that have a beautiful exotic scent. These fragrances were created as gender neutral scents that can be worn in any climate.
It is said that when fragrances are applied to the skin, they often don’t have good longevity due to sweat and the type of skin. However, the Goldfield & Banks fragrances were conceived and made for warmer regions which makes them unique that can last up to 24 hours on some skins, and as little as a few hours on other skins.
Goldfield & Banks fine fragrances have a more woody theme across the collection even though there are some fragrances created as fresh aromatics. The Blue Cypress has a smokey, misty, clean, and classic with a slight aquatic scent but crisp like the morning dew, eucalyptus, forest and greenery aromatics.
Naturally, fragrances are a personal choice and scents may vary for everyone and how they work on the skin. But for me–this comes across as a moderate silage that appears warm, slightly woody with a refreshing linger. I found Blue Cypress to have a longevity of only 5 hours and my hubby who tried it, found the scent was not as strong as he would prefer and felt the fragrance only lasted approximately 8 hours. It is an unusual but interesting scent to discover that I can appreciate. I normally gravitate towards feminine, floral and fruity scents. Although, this is outside of my realm of fragrances, if you enjoy greenery, smokey, misty type of notes, you will surely enjoy this one.
