I have been all about taking care of my skin lately (check my instagram just to show you how much I showcase my skincare products). And for the first time in years, I have been observing my skin type and trying to figure out what is actually working to keep my skin looking fresh and glowy. I don’t think my skin has thanked me enough for the efforts I have been doing to keep my skin in the condition that it is today.
There are certainly a bunch of new skincare brands that I have discovered this year that have made a huge difference in how my skin feels now. I will continue to review them in the coming weeks so please stay tuned. For now, let me take you through to one of the first new skincare brands that I simply can not stop using in my skincare routine.
These miniature Herbivore Botanicals Facial Oils have been a lifesaver. I know I must tell you many times how facial oils in general have been a “lifesaver“, but one must understand why facial oils are not that scary. Whatever skin type you have, especially those that have oily skin types, I am looking at you, do not fret, because facial oils are not that bad for you. No one likes a greasy face or an oily t-zone, I am there with you, though facial oils simply provide extra nutrients for the blemish-prone skin, dryness, dull and large pores skin types.
I first came across this brand through instagram and was on a prowl for new skincare products. I enjoy using my drugstore brands but felt like my skin needed something more. Although, there are probably something similar to this sold in the drugstore, but at the time I could not find anything similar. Herbivore Botanicals was founded by Julia Wills (curator) and Alexander Kummerow in 2011, a fairly new brand. There skincare products are created with natural ingredients, plant-based food-grade cold-pressed oils, steam distilled therapeutic-grade essential oils, GMO free soy wax, recyclable and reusable packaging, many certified organic ingredients.
I could not decide which facial oil to try, but happy to know they sell them in a mini set, 5ml each in a roller ball form. This is perfect for anyone new to the brand and want to try before investing in a full size facial oil. A perfect size to throw into a makeup bag and convenient for travels. It may not be the best for keeping the product hygienically clean, but it does the job well. Full sizes are 50ml and come with a dropper for easy use.
- Lapis – a deep blue in colour (does not transfer to skin) and acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial that aids in reducing redness and clarifying the complexion. Formulated for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types or any skin in need of relief from inflammation.
- Phoenix – an orange colour (does not transfer to skin) and will dramatically rehydrate and rejuvenate skin at the cellular level. Leaves skin soft and silky with a renewed appearance and texture. Formulated for combination, dry and mature skin.
- Orchid – a pale yellow colour (does not transfer to skin) and give skin a bright new glow while gently preserving its youth and replenishing hydration. Formulated for combination, mature and sensitive skin types.
All 3 facial oils are amazing, but I especially enjoy using Lapis and Orchid and these have become a favourite. I have noticed the quality of my skin as of late. My pores have reduced in size, I rarely get a breakout (blemish/dry skin patches), the surface of my skin have evened out and fine lines that are slowly creeping in are not so much noticeable. I like to team these facial oils with other face creams and if I am too lazy, I also enjoy using them alone.
Have you ever tried this brand? What is your favourite skincare product?
