As someone who grew up dealing with dry and eczema prone skin. You could probably imagine how difficult it would be to manage this type of skin condition all year around. I originally came from a tropical country and could remember experiencing eczema from a very young age. Since migrating to Australia, the change of climates hadn’t always been accomodating for my skin. The last 5 years since having my children, something triggered my eczema to return with a vengeance. I had experienced dry, itchy and eczema on my shins and on both hands (in between fingers).
My sons have this skin condition—with my eldest experiencing a severe case of eczema when he was just 4 months old. Eventually, things started to turn around for him and my beautiful boy is smiling from ear to ear. I can’t even begin to tell you what a journey that was trying to find anything to help my little boy with his irritable and inflamed skin. We tried everything and with patience and persistence, his eczema was under control and he now only experiences it behind his knees and the crease between his thighs and butt cheeks (gluteal fold). I know this can be managed and I have been exploring products that don’t contain steroids, instead products that the family can use daily, especially during summer. My kids and I have been trialling out some of Dermal Therapy‘s range to see if they can help with our dry and eczema prone skins.
The effectiveness of our products is at the core of what we do–our skincare is created in clinical settings, using state-of-the-art technology with the highest quality of ingredients.” – Dermal Therapy.
Eczema & Psoriasis Cream 50g $18.99
The eczema & psoriasis cream is a concentrated cream to help with relief of inflamed skin that’s associated with eczema and psoriasis. It is a gentle formulation that is soothing and moisturising cream, which has helped my eldest son’s eczema on his gluteal fold and behind his knees. We use it twice a day (morning and night) and most especially after showering. The consistency is a lightweight with a creamy texture. Once applied a pea size to the affected skins, massage it until skin is dry. It calms and soothes his skin immediately, and after a week the skin is less irritable and inflamed. My youngest son has a minor case of eczema only experiencing on the creases and folds on his body–like behind his left knee and on his right elbow. I use this product on both of them and it seems to be helping soothe the redness and hydrate their dry skins. This product can be used for both face and body.
Very Dry Skin Cream 125g $10.99
The very dry skin cream is a clinically proven cream that claims to help increase skin hydration by 52%. It is a rich and thick texture that provides intensive moisturisation for dry to severely dry skin types. It has a non-greasy formulation and is safe to use on any body part. This product is suitable for people with dry, itchy and sensitive skin types. I have only tried this on my hand and it is quite a heavy cream. It isn’t something I can use this season but will happily wait for when winter comes around.
Anti-Ageing Hand Balm 40g $12.95
The anti-ageing hand balm helps to improve the appearance of skin’s elasticity, lighten age spots, pigmentation, and wrinkles, whilst helping to reveal younger-looking hands. Its key ingredient is a unique plant based—plantago lanceolata, which helps to enhance skins smoothness and firmness.
I have been using this hand balm 2-3 times a day for the last 2 weeks, massaging in between my hands and fingers. It has definitely helped to soothe, minimise inflamed, itchy and calmed down my eczema prone hands. You can tell from my photos above what a difference it can make after just using this product in the first few days. My hands feel soft, smooth and even after washing my hands constantly due to Covid, I don’t feel my hands dry out easily as this hand balm keeps my hands continuously hydrated all day. I am very pleased to have this become a part of my hand care routine.
Lip Balm Berry 10g $5.99
The lip balm berry is one of two new flavours (the other is mint), which has been added to Dermal Therapy’s current Australian’s top-selling lip balm line. It was designed to hydrate and soften severely dry lips. The concentrated flavour contains a freshness and sweet feeling while keeping them smooth and healthy-looking.
I have tried the original lip balm and can vouch for how wonderful it works on dry and chapped lips. I was especially pleased to try this flavoured version and enjoy the berry freshness it brings. It is one of the best lip balms I have tried in years and it lives up to its promise of visible results in 1 day.
Overall, the eczema & psoriasis cream has become a staple for both of my boys to help moisturise, soothe and calm the eczema they both experience on their bodies that become dry, itchy and inflamed. The anti-ageing hand balm and lip balm berry have become staples for my itchy and eczema prone hands, dry and chapped lips. I make sure to carry these products in my handbag where ever I go.
