I have been all about liquid lipsticks lately and it was because of all the photos I had been seeing on instagram that I had to check out this trend. I have always been a fan of original forms of lipsticks and have often shed away from anything “new formula” lipstick. This liquid lipstick trend did not go away, as season after season, I have watched various colours come and go, but the one that seemed to be front runners were the essential everyday nudes.
It is not everyday you meet a hyped up product and colour in tow and in no way did I expect to fall in love with this colour. Everyone I knew who was into makeup, this was a conservation starter and I eventually got sucked right into the hype. For many days and weeks, this Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Lolita was what every makeup lover wanted to have. I did not really understood why, other than it would be out of stock everywhere. Then one day an email came along that it would be back on stock and this was the beginning of a new love story. Some people have had mixed reviews on this formula and the colour, but so far, I have enjoyed every bit of it.
The Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Lolita II is one of the latest to come around and I call it, the twin sister. These are pretty together and one can be worn by day and the other by night. The formula for Lolita is thinner (I found) compared with Lolita II, as it seemed to be a bit creamier in consistency. Both equally dry around the same time – quick and in a matte finish! These lipsticks do not bleed, but if you make a mistake, it can be easily fixable by using a cotton tip dipped in makeup remover or a lip balm and wipe off excess with a facial tissue.
Both have similar longevity and eventually fade over time with food and drink. I did not find either to stain my lips as some other liquid lipsticks can do, but leaves lips feeling soft and moisturised. The real difference is of course the colours, Lolita is a chestnut rose and Lolita II is a terracotta shade. I think both shades will suit just about everyone and will likely to appear more or less close to its true shade depending on how pigmented your lips are to begin with.
Have you tried these Kat Von D liquid lipsticks, which is your favourite colour?
