MAYBELLINE Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in Stripped Down

There is nothing better when you can find a dupe or a close dupe to a much loved makeup product you might have splurged on and I think I may have just that one thing that won’t break the bank. Gee, that was a mouthful!

“Go beyond gloss with a jolt of intense color. Maybelline’s vibrant lip paint delivers 8x more pigment in every drop.” – Maybelline.com.au.

If you are a lover of nude shaded lipsticks for the perfect everyday makeup look, then you can not stop reading here. You may have swatched, tried, owned or tossed away a Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick (MLLWL) in Chihuahua because you loved it but it was overpriced or it expired or you lost it–like I did 🙁 .

It is a sad day, I had planned to swatch both of these liquid lipsticks side by side to share with you my thought comparison. But, let’s just envision a nude liquid lipstick with a slightly pink undertone and that is the MLLWL version. The Maybelline is more of a nude with a brown undertone–my kind of everyday nude that seems to suit my skin complexion better.

MAYBELLINE Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint 05 Stripped Down 6.4ml

This color jolt intense lip paint has a lightweight and thin consistency compared with MLLWL. I found this shade to have more of a sheer but buildable colour, instead of a thick layer of intense colour that I experienced with MLLWL. I do enjoy the consistency, as it applied easily on my lips without it being patchy, and when you build up for a second or third layer, it doesn’t weigh down the lips. I found it to moisturise and added a bit of shine, however it did not last very long when food and drink was in the mix. It did not leave a stain, but you have to reapply constantly, which may bother some. Also, this is more of a cream with added shine finish and not matte like MLLWL.

Overall, the colour selection with Maybelline’s Color Jolt Intense Lip Paints are limited, but do cover basic nudes, pinks, reds and bold berry shades. It retails for AUD$14.95–a drugstore price, it is more affordable than MLLWL, but the quality isn’t too bad. Though some may argue, the quantity is small at 6.4ml compared with Too Faced at 12ml and you pay almost double the price of Maybelline. If you are new to these kinds of lipsticks, maybe it is worth taking a look at the affordable types before investing in a high street or luxury version if you want to save some coins.
