My Best in Makeup Favourites in 2016

The year is almost over and I thought I should share with you what made it in my 2016 makeup favourites. These products are what I have used or have been using through out the year. There may be no surprises here, as you may have seen me rave about some of these products in past posts or seen me include in past instagram photos.

In no particular order, these are what made my quick and easy makeup looks. I did not choose products for every category, as I only used and enjoyed what I considered were my go-to’s at the time.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit This is a favourite by many, but it was a palette that grew on me over time. I was so happy I had bought it when I did, because there was a lot of adding to cart and removing off the cart. This is a very good introduction palette to Hourglass ambient lighting powders–a tad pricey, but also worth it for newbies like me. For a full review + swatches can be found here.

L’Oreal Colour Riche LA Palette Nude 2 in rose  Compared with other drugstore eyeshadow palettes, I found this one to be one of my go-to’s. I found that the nudes in this palette were actually the kinds of shades that I had gravitated towards for the perfect everyday eye makeup looks. The formula is buttery and there were hardly any fall outs, and also it was quite easy to blend on the skin, as well as with other shades in this palette. H&M Beauty Cream Blush in Cameo Brown – Although, I enjoyed using the Hourglass ambient palette for its blushes, I found that during the cooler months, I preferred to use a blush that had a matte finish and did not have any shimmer or glow effect. I found this H&M cream blush to be a perfect staple blush formula (cream to powder), but also for everyday shade choice. This gave my cheeks a lovely subtle hint of colour for a ‘no makeup-makeup look‘.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita – There may have been others that joined in with the liquid lipstick phenomenon and at the time, I instantly fell in love with Lolita. This was the first of its kind for me, texture wise ( thin-watery consistency) that I enjoyed very much, I had to pick up its twin sister Lolita II. I found this product to be easy to use, as it did not dry out my lips, rather stayed put with food and drinks. A full review + swatches can be found here.

*Rimmel London x Kate Moss Lip Anniversary Lasting Finish Lipsticks in 55 My Nude – I have always been a fan of the Rimmel collaboration with Kate Moss lipsticks. I was so happy when she had released a set of nudes and reds for her recent 15th year anniversary. I just love the formula and texture to be creamy, moisturising, as well as how opaque it appeared upon first application. This beige nude had become a favourite out of the 3 nudes in this anniversary collection. A full review + swatches can be found here.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (mini) – I love how this mascara made my short Asian lashes appeared. It gave them life–dark, thick and fuller lashes with length. I enjoyed them as it also gave that semi-wet look, which was great to wear day time, as well as in the evening. I have gone through 2 mini sized mascaras and I do not know if I will ever commit to buying a full size, but the minis are great.
