It has been a long time since I have found and thoroughly enjoyed a facial cleanser. In the past, other cleansers I have used often come with a bunch of fancy words that sound pretty, but when you actually use it, it strips natural oils off the skin, has a synthetic fragrance and is simply ineffective at cleansing.
Sometimes, the claims aren’t consistent with my results and with these types of issues, I’ve encountered, don’t do much for my combination-dry and sensitive skin type. This includes products that claim to be cruelty-free, vegan and made from “all natural” ingredients. That’s not to discredit that those products won’t work on other skins, but from my experience it’s been a journey of disappointments.
*Ecdysis Bio-Ferment Enzyme Cleanse 100ml $70
This ecdysis bio-ferment enzyme cleanse has a lightweight luxurious, creamy texture that has a lovely botanical subtle scent which makes cleansing more appealing. It leaves my skin feel cleansed, nourished and skin soft to touch. My pores appeared to be minimised (blurred), which I don’t usually see after cleansing my skin, but I’m happy it does help to close up my pores. I also experience a light tingle sensation while I use this product, which I found to be normal. This is due to the plant acids and enzyme associated to exfoliating while cleansing the skin. If you have sensitive skin, it is ideal that you patch test this first, which I did and experienced no problems.
It’s key ingredients are niacinamide, alpha-hydroxy acids (aha) and papain enzyme that all helps to gently exfoliate dead skin cells to promote instantly brighter skin. It claims to help with purifying the skin to remove surface impurities and makeup. However, I found that this was not ideal to use around the eye area as it stings. I always opt to use a cleansing balm/oil as my step one to remove the majority of my makeup, then I follow up with step two–using this ecdysis cleanse (I only double cleanse when I use this product and have to also remove my makeup).
Overall, this cleanse is truly an amazing product that leaves skin hydrated and moisturised, gently exfoliates skin to give a natural glow, and promotes a healthy skin appearance. There have been some wonderful cleansers I have used in the past, but nothing like this and as good as this. This product is in my top 3 cleansers on rotation right now.
