Ready, Set, Glow with Rimmel Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse in Medium Matte

Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette

You may be wondering what I am yet again doing with a self-tan product? I know, but I actually think I need it this time. My skin tone is uneven in several parts of my body and wanted to try and keep them in the same medium tone. I was kindly gifted this *Rimmel Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse Medium Matte 150ml AU$16.95, courtesy of Coty Pr Australia.

Back story, I was born with olive skin tone, then as a young girl, I spent too much time in the sun, and wore all sorts of clothes that displayed parts of skin, which darkened my skin. My face is darker on another level and basically from my neck to my ankles it is lighter than my face.

I think it is safe to say, I need to use a self tanning product. I do not think I have to use it, but since I have plans to travel in the new year, I may as well prepare my skin for it.

In the past, I have used a cream based self-tan, which was great, but now I want to try something different. This Rimmel self tan has an interesting formula and texture, which reminds me of bath foam and not so much as a mousse. It feels super light on the skin and appears in this greyish colour with specks of shimmer.

I used a self-tanning mitt, but you can also use your hands to apply a thin even coat on the skin. I found that the drying time was within the claimed time of under 2 minutes. It also claimed to develop in an hour, I found that when I did try this on my skin at night, I did not completely see the results until the next morning. I feel as though the colour was a lovely light-medium shade that was close to what I had expected to achieve.

I did not feel it left blotches or streaks and was not sticky to apply during and after it dried matte. There definitely was no colour transfer or that fake tan smell and I do not think from memory there was any smell, which is good. Also, the formula did not dry out my skin and I could apply moisturiser that did not disturb the tan. The shimmer specks I found on the foam did not seem to transfer on my skin, which is good, as I do not want to be walking around looking like a disco ball! ?

As you shower daily, the colour washes away with ease, but a lovely healthy golden bronze goodness remains on the skin up to seven days with just one application. If you want to maintain this golden bronze glow, you simply reapply weekly, and make sure to exfoliate before each repeated use. These are available in three flattering shades: light matte, medium matte and dark matte, and are sold at Priceline, Priceline Pharmacy, Chemist Warehouse and other selected pharmacies.

Have you tried this Rimmel Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse? Did it work for you? Will you be using it this summer?
