It has been a while since I have tried a new eyeshadow palette. I have been interested in trying new shades and different textures other than my go to neutral/nudes and matte finishes. I am quite the boring person when it comes to what I like to apply on my eyelids and you guys know I rarely wear eyeliner, so this is kind of a step up from what I usually go for on the daily.
Samantha Jade is an gorgeous Australian singer-song writer, who won The X Factor back in 2012 and recently she collaborated with ModelsPrefer on a range of makeup products (exclusive to Priceline/Priceline Pharmacy), one being this travel friendly six-pan eyeshadow palette. Although, this is kind of like another nude eyeshadow palette, they really do not appear neutral or nude shades in my opinion.
This Samantha Jade for ModelsPrefer Uncovered Nude Eyeshadow Palette retails for AU$17.95 and comes in this slim black matte hard board with rose gold print on the cover. It has a magnetic closure, but no mirror inside, instead replacing that with three suggestions on how-to create different looks from this palette.
From a consumer point of view, I felt that could have been added on the back of the outer cardboard packaging and still include a mirror inside. Though, if you are familiar with ModelsPrefer palettes, this happens to be a reoccurrence for them too! As a beauty enthusiast, I would imagine a palette with this colour selection–the opportunities could be endless.
From the inside of the palette, there as I mentioned earlier six eyeshadows ranging from matte to satin-shimmer finishes. They are all, but one very pigmented shades, the black has a matte finish and not as pigmented as I had expected. With one layer of swatch on my arm and a few more after that, you can see how light it still appears and transparent.
This is not really a deal breaker for me, as I was more taken by pans in shades 1, 3 to 6. These are so pretty and the swatch photo does not do it justice. I can definitely see some amazing party looks created using this palette. The quality is great, buttery, soft and blends easily with little to no fall outs when I use an eyeshadow primer and without it, it would not look very nice, as I have oily eyelids.
A great party eyeshadow palette and not your typical “nude” eyeshadow palette. The colours here are beautiful and would work well with any skin tone. For the price you pay, it is affordable and versatile for any occasion.
