The much anticipated new makeup–foundations from The Ordinary colours range is now available in a variety of shades. The brand is part of an umbrella of other beauty brands from Deciem. I managed to pick up this Serum Foundation and if you want to learn more then please continue reading.
“Pigments used within each formula are suspended in a unique spreadability system, allowing for even coverage and ultimate skin naturalness. With a semi-matte, breathable finish both foundations promise long-lasting, durable wear and avoid collecting in fine lines.” – The Ordinary (Deciem).
THE ORDINARY Serum Foundation 2.1Y Medium 30ml
The serum foundation claims to give a more natural-look with medium coverage that has a very lightweight serum texture, is low-viscosity, and is dispensed with a pump. Based on the colour foundation chart online, I chose medium 2.1Y (yellow undertone), which falls under the medium category. There are 21 shades available, which is fantastic and you are bound to find one close to your skin tone.
I found the quality of this serum to be very good (make sure to shake the bottle first), fluid like and non-sticky or tacky feel. It is very lightweight and easily blendable with a buffing brush. One layer on the skin gives a lovely coverage that is buildable and enough to cover redness on the skin. However, I found it would not cover up dark circles, so it is best to conceal them. It leaves a nice semi-matte finish and contains spf 15. This shade was a little bit dark for my face, however could work during summer time. I could also go down one shade lighter like the light medium 2.0YG (yellow undertones with gold highlights).
I used a primer as my base and found this foundation to last more than 6 hours without any touch ups. No setting spray or powders were used. Overall, I enjoyed using this serum foundation as it felt very natural on the skin, minus the choice of colour. I will definitely purchase the lighter shade once it comes back in stock online and I am eager to try the coverage foundation once that is in stock too! Currently, these foundations are not available in store in Australia and can only be purchased online at this stage.
